Mia and the Happy Tree

The sun beat down on the deck of the ship, its rays shining through the thin cloud cover. The ocean was calm and quiet that morning, and only the rhythmic waves of blue-green water dancing in the sunlight could be heard.

A lone girl stood at the bow of the ship, her eyes closed as she took in a deep breath of salty air. Her long black hair blew in the wind, brushing against her face as she brought her arm up to shield herself from it. She opened her eyes and looked out over the horizon, letting out a tired sigh. It had been a long trip so far, but they were nearing their destination now.

She turned around and walked back towards the main deck of the ship, where her faithful Labrador puppy was lying in a patch of sun. "Hey Candice!" She said as she approached her pet, who lifted its head to look at her. It let out a soft bark and wagged its tail as she bent down to scratch behind its ears. After some time with Candice, she stood up again and walked over to one side of the boat to gaze out at the ocean again.

The sky was still blue, but there were clouds gathering together just above the horizon line. The sun was now blocked by these clouds, which meant that it would rain soon. Not that it mattered much; their boat had been tossed about by storms so bad before that they had lost count of how many times they'd almost died during their journey.

Mia sighed again, this time for a different reason than before. They had finally reached land! She didn't know exactly where they were yet, but she knew it was Maine or somewhere close to it from all of their sightings along the way. She wasn't sure what lay before them now - would they meet friendly locals? Or be attacked by unfriendly ones? What if they decided to attack them first? Mia's hands clenched into fists as she thought about this possibility, thinking about all those who wronged her recently back home who wouldn't have dared because of her status as a knight. But here... no one knew who she was nor did anyone care either way; she could never live up to what people expected of her when she left home after all - especially after disappointing them so many times already...

Her heart sank as she thought about all this and more, but as soon as these thoughts came into her head, something else started making itself known: hunger. There hadn't been anything except fish for weeks now, and even though it tasted good and kept them alive better than anything else would have... she really wanted something else for once in this whole trip! A loaf of bread or some hummus or falafel or maybe even a simple apple just to tide them over until they found fresh food!

"Candice." Mia said suddenly with a grin on her face, turning back towards her dog who was still lying down while looking up at her with big eyes full of curiosity at hearing his name being called. "I think we're gonna see some apples soon!"
