The El Gato Justice Squad

“You’re sure the criminals are hiding out at the brothel?” Natalia asked.

“Yes, I heard them talking about how it was the perfect place to hide from the police,” Tiana replied. She ran a hand through her long brown hair. “I just want to help El Gato Orin...”

Joy placed a comforting hand on Tiana’s shoulder. “We all do, but we have to be careful… if we get caught it will ruin everything.” Joy looked up at the moon that shone brightly in the night sky, then she smiled and turned back to face her friends. “But they don’t even know we exist! We can sneak in and out without them even knowing. It will be easy!” Joy said confidently as she flipped a knife over in her hands.

Natalia sighed softly and shook her head. She knew they had to do this, but she wasn’t too excited about it. The three girls walked down the street until they reached a large building that Natalia recognized as the brothel where the criminals were hiding out. All the windows were dark, except for one on the second floor which was lit by candle light.

Natalia looked at her friends with a serious expression before she pointed towards the window with her thumb. “I think that is where they are keeping El Gato Orin,” she whispered quietly so only her friends could hear her. Joy and Tiana nodded their heads in agreement as they began to sneak closer to the building. When Natalia was close enough she pressed herself against the wall and slowly made her way towards the open window while Joy and Tiana made their way around back of the building near where they thought there might be an entrance into the building.

When Natalia reached the open window, she glanced inside of what looked like a study area that had been abandoned by its owner who was most likely out enjoying themselves at some of the other brothels or bars in town. There was a small table with several candles on it and a stack of papers scattered across its surface and floor around it. There were also several bottles of liquor on top of a bookshelf along one of the walls, but no cat...

Natalia recoiled when something black suddenly flew across her line of sight from one side of the room to another, then landed on top of one of the tables in front of her causing everything on top of it to wobble slightly from its weight. Natalia blinked rapidly trying to make sense of what she was seeing as goosebumps formed along her arms and legs when she realized that it was El Gato Orin staring up at her with his bright green eyes...

The cat was looking at Natalia curiously as if he didn’t know who she was or why he had been locked up in such a small room for so long...

Natalia quickly pulled out a small piece of paper from one pocket on her dress and began to draw something while holding onto one corner with two fingers while using three different colored markers to create their plan of action on top of it with great care and detail...
