Lee sat in his college dorm room, staring at the textbook in front of him. His mind wandered, unable to focus on the words on the page. It had been a year since the accident, but it still haunted him every day.

He was 18 years old when it happened. A car crash that should have killed him. But he woke up in a hospital bed with no memory of how he got there.

That's when he started seeing things. Shadows moving in the corners of his vision, flickering lights that no one else noticed, and worst of all, the spirits.

They were everywhere. Some were angry and vengeful, while others seemed lost and confused. They would appear to Lee at all hours of the day and night, begging for help or simply wanting someone to listen to their stories.

At first, Lee thought he was going crazy. He kept his experiences to himself, afraid of what others would think if he told them about the spirits that followed him around.

But then one night, as he walked through campus on his way back to his dorm room, he saw a ghostly figure standing in front of a building engulfed in flames.

"Help me," it pleaded with a voice filled with desperation.

Without thinking, Lee ran towards the burning building and kicked open the door. He could feel the heat and smoke surrounding him as he made his way inside.

He found a girl trapped under some fallen debris and quickly pulled her free. Together they made their way outside just as the fire department arrived on scene.

As they sat on the curb catching their breaths, Lee turned to her and asked, "Why were you in there? What happened?"

The girl looked down at her hands before answering softly, "I died here two years ago… I couldn't move on until someone saved me."

That's when Lee realized that these spirits weren't just figments of his imagination - they were real, and they needed his help.

He spent the next year juggling his college classes with his newfound mission of helping spirits move on to the afterlife. It was exhausting and often dangerous, but he couldn't ignore the calling he felt deep within him.

And now, as he sat in his dorm room trying to study for an upcoming exam, a spirit appeared before him. It was an old man with a weathered face and sad eyes.

"Please… you have to help me," the spirit pleaded.

Lee sighed and closed his textbook. He knew that his studies would have to wait once again.

"What do you need from me?" he asked the spirit wearily.

The old man's face brightened as he said, "There's a family living in my old house… they're in danger. I can't rest until I know they're safe."

Lee nodded and stood up from his desk. He grabbed a notepad and pen, ready to jot down any information the spirit could give him about the family or their situation.

As he listened to the old man's story, Lee couldn't help but wonder when - or if - he would ever get back to studying for that exam. But then he looked at the grateful expression on the spirit's face and knew that this was exactly where he was meant to be.

With renewed determination, Lee set off towards the old man's house, ready to do whatever it took to protect the innocent living from the dangers of the uncanny world.
