The Mystery of NZaland's High Security Heist

Robin Dunn, Alastair Smith, Sonia Abel, Malcolm Velasquez, and Miriam Branan are a group of delinquent teens from the city of Queenscrosser in the kingdom of NZaland. Having grown up in difficult circumstances, the quintet has resorted to thieving and other related activities, which they use to make a living and also keep their moral compasses in check. Thanks to an unlikely connection, the gang discovers of the impending heist of the palatial Queen’s High Security Bank, located in the main square of Queenscrosser, and with their formidable set of skills, they decide to take part. Alastair leads the group to the decrepit old bank late one night in the wee hours of morning. After some close calls with the daunting guards, they manage to traverse their way to the top floor of the building and penetrate the vault. Moments later, what looks like a common safe proves far too complex for them to crack, even with Robin’s expertise. As they all despair, Malcolm discovers that what appears to be the safe is actually a concealed door, which leads to a secret pathway into an ancient crypt. As the group enters the eerie crypt, an overwhelming sensation of mystery and terror takes over them. With little clues provided, Sonia deciphers the puzzles obfuscating their progress. As they progress deeper and further, they create an ever-taking trail of chaos and get unfortunate attention of the guards chasing them through the winding corridors and hidden passageways.

After numerous harrowing encounters with the no-nonsense guards and with Sonia being separated from the rest of the crew after Alastair risks his own life to save her, the thieves find themselves in an isolated chamber, linked to a vast network of underground tunnels. As they traverse through this labyrinth, Sonia tells the group that she believes the network beneath the chamber is an artificial construct, made by powerful forces from the past. As they get closer to the heart of the crypt, the gang comes upon an enormous platform leading to a circular doorway. Awestruck and amazed, it only takes Miriam’s wise yet strangely familiar words for the group to realize that the door is the way out, a direct reaching to freedom and a chance for retribution.

Having finally found a way to leave the winding convoluted tunnels and railway, the group understands the consequences of their actions and the risks they have taken while entering the bank and finally resolving the puzzles of the crypt. In order to reach the outer camps, they must give back the loot they have gained and avoid the pursuing guards at all cost. When the gang reaches the portal, they’re informed that the portal will grant them safe passage to the outer camps as long as they provide specific items as an ultimate and necessary sacrifice. Fully aware of the risks, every thief looks and feels the weight of the items they have stolen bearing upon them. After several exhausting hours of debating, Robin and Alastair finally present the options needed to enter the portal. Alastair suggests that the only way for the group to escape is by making a bargain One thief must volunteer to remain behind, sacrificing their identity to the convent, in exchange for the group’s freedom from the guards and a safe one-way journey to the camps. After some brief reservations, Miriam, who had since felt a calling to redemption and collaboration from the ancient texts, decides to stay in exchange for her friends’ safety.

Suddenly, a summoning horn is heard, and the guards come a-running. Alastair quickly disables the portal and comforts Miriam, who is the one left sacrificing herself, in the hopes of providing a better future. After a few intense words, Miriam bids them farewell, reassuring her friends that their actions will bring justice and equality back to their city. With the thought of Miriam finally, truly dissipating and the guards close at hand, Alastair takes the lead and watches his friends closing in front of him as they are finally ready to take on their next adventure – a journey of a thousand miles starting with a single step. The guards reach the portal’s entrance and due to Miriam’s distraction they leave while paying little attention to anyone’s position according to Alastair's plan, absent-mindedly taking her into their ranks. Now in familiar territory, the group of thieves make haste and keep away from the guards as the former leads them back towards the surface of the crypt. After hours of careful negotiation, the gang returns to their starting point, and in the very eyes of the guards, Robin specifically orders Alastair to open the sealed door of the vault. In an instant, the puzzles and cryptic messages of the chamber as well as their hardships to corner and evade the guards entered the minds and hearts of every group member, and in a grand finale, they manage to enter the vault, snatch the valuables, pose victoriously in front of the police officers’ eyes, and escape. Now, having nothing tying them back to their previous outlaw explorations and campaigns, the thieves part ways under the watchful eye of the Queen, seeing for each of them a new and brighter future – with only one having to remain understanding to them all Miriam, who, in that moment of chaos, great risk, and courage, was the one to stay behind, preserving the knowledge of a hidden and mythical zone, of an unknown world in the depths of NZaland.
