The Gidneyliner was an old, unreliable cargo ship- the kind of ship you would expect the kind of rag-tag crew the Gidneyliner’s crew consisted of- Stark the mysterious captain, Madia the energetic engineer, Dr. Jairo the flustered medic, and, of them all, Clover the walking boy. The four of them set out onto a mission that was, needless to say, much more a slightly ridiculous endeavor than a matter of life-or-death a mission to retrieve alien artifacts from the empty vacuum of space.

On their journey, their interactions led to a blend of bickering and friendly company. However, Clover was often the butt of the crew’s teasing, cultivating a state introspection over the course of their quest. This introspective contemplation slowly became a major factor in the situation they had gotten themselves into.

Finally, they found themselves at their destination a small asteroid orbiting a foreign star. Establishing coordinates, they began their ascent, but something went dreadfully wrong, and the Gidneyliner shot out of its strict orbit, spinning in a web of chaos. The asteroid seemed to suddenly draw Clover in, and, before the crew could take action, he had gone over the edge of the boards and into the darkness of space.

Stunned and fearing the worst, the crew sprung into action, Stark and Madia leaping with their beam techno-guts to retrieve a breathing suit for Clover- if only they could reach him in time. At the same time, Dr. Jairo stripped the ship of extra oxygen tanks and supplies necessary for a self-saving mission. With haste and furious planning, the seemingly impossible mission was underway.

Finally, the crew arrived in a far corner of their system, the ship barely keeping their vital equipment powered. Disembarking the Gidneyliner, they beheld an awe-inspiring sight a maze of gigantic alien statues drifting in the deepest reaches of space, belting tunnel-like currents of debris, starlight spilling around the ruins in every direction. Knowing what was at stake, the crew began their improvised rescue; treacherous hops between the rocky walls of the structure, a game of blind luck to stumble upon the right openings in the darkness for the weakened Clover to crawl out.

They couldn’t navigate their way out of it unscathed, however. With each passing second, oxygen tanks and vital supplies were dwindling, and their hopes seemed to be fading. Diving into a tight swim across the vast chasm of nothing, the crew only had a few seconds of air left to escape the grasp of oblivion when suddenly, amidst the sea of stars and gas, a flailing silhouette appeared in the corner of their eyes— it was Clover!

Finding refuge in the Gidneyliner, the crew facilitated an emergency hangar recoupling. Just as they raced out of the winding alien maze, the starship broke through the tight walls at the last second, with Clover and the crew inside.

Now, having come this far, and having Clover save himself and the rest of the crew, they can complete their journey and retrieve the alien artifacts they had originally set out to find- without any further silly distractions.

And so, after some awkward glances here and there, Stark announced, “Friends. We did it!”

The journey was far from over, but as the Gidneyliner settled into the warmth of the foreign star and its four misfits looked at one another in appreciation, peace and understanding, it was clear that nobody’s fates were ever the same.
