Resilience of Discovery: The Fiona Smith Story

"The day has finally come" Dr. Smith said to herself as she wiped the sleep from her eyes, " Today I will prove once and for all the worth of my research!" She looked out at the vast field of endless fields of corn that surrounded her and admired her hard work. It was here, in this very spot that she had discovered a new element and today she would show the world what that discovery meant. *Today I will change the world,* she thought.

Her mother was a scientist as well. Her father was an inventor. The love for science had been passed down from generation to generation and Fiona had always wanted to continue that tradition. She had always wondered why it was more common for men to be scientists but she didn't care. She loved science and there was no way anyone could stop her.

Back at home, in front of the mirror, she straightened out her red hair and checked if everything was in place. Her white labcoat with black trimming, her glasses and ponytail were perfect. Everything had to be perfect today. This was a momentous occasion after all! She grabbed her briefcase and left for the big event.

She arrived at the science conference hall with only minutes to spare. The crowd was buzzing with excitement as they awaited the arrival of their most renowned scientists and researchers such as Dr. Smith herself. As she made her way inside, she couldn't help but feel nervous but she knew that today would change everything for her so there was no reason to be nervous about something that would change everything for everyone else too!

She scanned the room for any familiar faces but none stood out to her so instead, she took a seat towards the back of the large room where no one could bother her during the event. Everyone around her seemed so dull compared to her genius mind anyways so she didn't miss them one bit. After a while, everyone quieted down when Dr. Smith took the stage to speak about a topic which caught everyone's attention: A New Element! Everyone looked on in awe as Dr. Smith announced how her research had led her to discover a whole new element that went beyond anything previously known before! This was big news afterall! No longer would people have to depend on expensive materials such as gold or silver or platinum or anything else like it because now they could just use this new cheap material without any repercussions! All eyes were set on Dr Smith as she unveiled what exactly this new element meant; not just for science but also for society! People were amazed by Dr Smith's findings and they were excited beyond belief! They were ready to hear more from Dr Smith even though lunch break was approaching soon so they rushed back into the main hall where lunch would be served afterwards and where Dr Smith would continue explaining exactly what this new element meant for everyone's lives of tomorrow! It would transform human lives entirely! Anything is possible now thanks to Dr Smith's discovery!
