A Moon Away: Madge and Primero's Quest for Utopia

Madge Rice arrived at the court of the newly-appointed King Edgewater, on the moon Tavarthen, with her head held high. She was determined to make a good impression, though she couldn’t shake an odd feeling of impending danger. She had grown up less privileged than most of the other court nobles, identifying more closely with the oppressed life of the peasantry.

But being a well-known figure in her home country of Zemmaten gave her an opportunity – the chance to refine her skills and gain attention from those in the court. She had grown up on stories of evil King Edgewater, hoping he'd never leave any lasting legacy on this moon.

Little did Madge understand what cruel tortures were practiced in the court. From the looks of the courtiers, she wondered that this court was filled with not just wholesome games, fun, but with something else of a sinister nature. On her first night at the royal palace, Madge learned about the famed 'Porn Girls' who seemed to line the banquet tables in odd numbers, wearing revealing clothes and with more attention given than the majority of the humble servants. The queen, it seemed to Madge, had no power to put an end to their presence and their obscene activities.

Still weakened by the mysterious feeling of danger, Madge resolved to remain fully dedicated to the court while maintaining her distance. On occasion, Primero --- a trans woman, who had been her confidant since childhood --- would pay her visit. Together, they could, at least, joke that they might have some chance, somehow, of making a better world where they could find a place that was meant for them.

Madge silently searched for any evidence of this evil she was seeing, but to no avail.The palace was a place of almost total secrecy and those who moved about far too often had something sinister about them. Growing bolder with each passing day, Madge began to investigate the palace's overt and nefarious actions.

Acting as an extra spy for Primero, who was working to find proof of the shady dealings going on inside the castle, Madge followed whomever—pairing up with one of the court's 'Porn Girls', Clarice, in her pursuits. Despite her initial suspicion, Madge quickly came to respect her unexpected source, finding Clarrice's sharp wit and cunning behavior strangely comforting in the dangerous political climate of the court.

Upon clarifying the evil within the court walls, Madge and Primero both realised the true gravity of their situation with unbearable ease—that evil was all around them, and could easily consume everything they knew and loved. Together, with the help of Clarice, who, like both Primero and her, was also queer, they swore to help each other out, oppose such a oppressive court with all they had.

It was during this time that Madge became aware of the kingdom's now all-out war against the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities on the moon. Dubiously referred to as ‘daemon cults’ by the king and the court, Madge and Primero understood that it was their duty to step up and fight for the rest of their community – for the rights of the world's oppressed people.

To make progress, Madge and Primero had to leave their moral comforts behind and infiltrate the royal court’s most secluded areas, using bravado and cleverness to avoid detection at all costs. With the help of Clarice and the few who would help them, they discovered an even more horrible truth the Evil King was keeping hidden an even more wicked agenda, which included the desolation of their beloved moon Tavarthen.

The trio decided to do something about the king's heinous plans before it could move hellbent into some sort of massive battle with the opposing sides of the planet.

The trio discovered a possible secret weapon – a daggerbelk, a magical device that uses empathic energy – being held within the royal treasury. Madge devised a plan to steal the weapon, which would conveniently change the course of the affair.

Madge and Primero infiltrated the royal guard, putting on a show of eloquence and propriety to gain access to the treasury. With tactics echoing their days as children on the streets of Zemmaten and their banter quick to return in such logical situations, Madge and Primero were able to dodge the King's cronies and were soon on their way to having the solution to what was previously felt to be an unsolvable problem for them.

Armed with the daggerbelk in hand, Madge and Primero confronted King Edgewater, determined to put an end to his reign and the devious experiments taking place on their home moon. It was a risky move, with no guarantee of success, but their fearlessness rewarded them as they saw King Edgewater fall before their weapon. Tavarthen was then free from the oppression of the King and from the darkness that had previously consumed it.

The trio returned to their home planet with a newfound determination to use the newfound freedoms to ensure that those rights were never infringed upon again. With the city around them returning to normal, their secret meetings doubled in size and their cause became even bolder. In a world once slipping into darkness, a light now beamed that was both more powerful and diverse then ever before.
