Aila's WildJourney
·
Published 3/19/2023Guided by her LGBTQIA friends, the troubled Aila, a powerful young wizard in Stone Age Scandinavia, embarks on a quest to unlock her magical heritage, but discovers a dark force vying for control of her power; testing her inner strength and capabilities, Aila must confront this darkness to claim a destiny greater than herself.
"Aila! We need you!"
"Is it a dragon?"
"No, it was a troll. But there are more trolls coming!"
"Okay, I'm on my way!"
Climbing the small hill up to the large cave where her tribe lives, Aila hears more shouting and shouts back. "I'm here! What's going on?!"
"You have to use your magic to stop them from destroying our village." A woman tells her as she approaches.
"What?! I don't know how to cast any spells. You know that. And I told you before, I don't want to!" She replies angrily, stopping in front of the woman.
"Look, I know you're still upset about what happened last year with your father, but this is an emergency! If they destroy our village, they'll be able to move closer to our village and attack us again." The women pleads.
"I know. But I just can't do magic." Aila replies sadly. Looking around at the villagers, panicking in fear as they run around trying to get things ready to defend themselves. "Do you really think I can do anything against these trolls?" Aila asks looking at the women again with tears in her eyes. "You all saw what happened when dad tried to beat those trolls last year."
"We know it won't be easy but we have no choice." The women replies trying not to cry herself. "But if you don't try, we will all die." She finishes frowning sadly at Aila. "Please... for me." She says standing up and walking away towards the other worried villagers.
Aila looks out over the lake and sighs deeply as she looks down at her reflection in the water. Her long brown hair flowing in the light breeze as she stands next to a tall rock overlooking a beautiful valley filled with trees and flowers. She is just starting her journey into adulthood and has been having nightmares of her father being killed by those evil trolls ever since he was killed last year during their attack on their village when she was only a child of 9 years old. But now she has finally decided that she needs to forget about him and start acting like an adult so she will be ready for whatever life may throw at her like her mother always used to say to her whenever she would make a mistake or do something wrong like accidentally kill one of the chickens from the farm because she was angry with someone from school or stomp on one of mother's precious flowers while playing outside alone after everyone else had gone inside because they were tired of playing with her because they were getting older and wanted more time for themselves instead of spending time with her anymore because she was still too young to play with them even though they loved playing together when they were younger... those were always happy times for them all but now that everyone else has started growing older, they have no choice but accept that things change whether we like it or not... they wish they could just go back but they can't so now they must stay strong like mother always said and face their fears head on instead of running away from them because life always goes on whether we are strong enough or not so now is the time for Aila to grow up and be strong for once... not just for herself but for all of them who love her so much even though sometimes it might not seem like it... They need her now more than ever before... especially after everything that has happened recently... They can't lose their home and Aila knows deep down in her heart that if that happens then there is no telling what might happen next...
