Lovestruck Odyssey

Amyntas and Leda stood on the beach, watching the water for hours. The waves kept crashing against the rocks and the sand kept trickling back in between the shells. A thin mist floated over the sea, still glistening from the setting sun.

"I realized something," he said.

"What did you realize?" she asked.

"That maybe I don't want to leave."

"But we have to."

"Why? Why do we have to?" He turned to face her and clutched her shoulders desperately. "We'll never find a place like this again! This is our home."

Leda frowned and tried to wiggle away from him, but he only clutched harder. Tears streamed down his cheeks, forming dark spots on his tunic. "Please?" he begged. "Don't make me leave you."

She looked at him with sadness in her eyes and pulled his hands off of her shoulders. She walked over to the edge of the cliff overlooking their village that sat next to the ocean and reached into her pocket where she had buried her prize - a small pink seashell. She gently caressed it as she stared out into nothingness, trying not to think about how hard it was going to be when they left.

Amyntas wiped his tears with the back of his hand and walked up behind her, placing his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder. She leaned into him for a moment before pulling away and staring out into the horizon again, where a ship sailed across the waves, its sails fluttering in the wind as if it were riding on top of a cloud. Amyntas watched as it faded into a spotty dot in the distance before turning to Leda and taking her hand in his own. Her skin was soft and warm, reminding him of how safe he felt whenever he held her hand. Maybe they could stay here after all... just them and their beautiful island forevermore...

Suddenly a loud cry came from above them, causing both of them to look up in surprise at an unfamiliar bird with brilliant white feathers swooping down towards them. It landed right in front of them on one of the rocks that stuck out of the ocean with its beak opened in what seemed like a laugh while its head bobbed up and down like it was nodding at some unheard joke only it knew about. Leda couldn't help but smile at its antics until she noticed that Amyntas was staring at it with astonishment instead of laughter. As she turned to question him however, she gasped when she saw that he had closed his eyes tight as if trying not to cry again and was shaking like a leaf on a tree during a stormy night.

She squeezed his hand tightly but he only cried harder, saying something unintelligible under his breath over and over again until finally he opened his eyes again, letting out a scream so powerful that even she thought she could hear it echoing all along coastline for miles around them as he backed away from their rock towards another one further away from where they sat earlier - ignoring everything else around him except for that damned bird that kept squawking like crazy at them while bobbing its head up and down like some sort of demented puppet along with snickering noises escaping its beak now here now there without rhyme or reason other than pure joy while they were obviously quite distressed by whatever was happening around themselves...

The creature wasn't actually laughing at all however - it had been shocked when it saw Leda's face so close to its own when it landed there earlier - which sent chills down its spine as if someone had dumped an ice bucket full of water on top of itself - no wonder why if you ask me since I've never seen anything more beautiful than Leda's smile myself either let me tell you - but when Amyntas started screaming like mad man though just because it decided to fly over their heads after seeing how much fun Leda was having earlier - well let's say that my heart almost skipped a beat myself too if I'm being honest here... *sigh* oh well such is life I suppose... *ahem* anyway where was I? Oh yes... *clears throat* So after all this happened however instead of questioning why Amyntas had lost control over himself like that Leda decided "Hey why not get some free dinner for once instead" which is why she grabbed hold of my leg so tightly before throwing herself towards me screeching loudly "CAT!" at my face which caused my heartbeat to jump straight into my throat too - hahaha not that I blame you Leda since cats are adorable creatures too especially when they're terrified - which is why I couldn't help but wonder what happened to make you react like this? Are you hurt perhaps? If so why didn't you tell your human friend about this earlier instead? oh well never mind I guess... *ahem* Anyway after that Leda tried grabbing me once more but then I jumped away before flying up higher into air using my wings while making loud screeching noises myself hoping that this would convince Amyntas who by now had stopped screaming long enough to stare at us both with wide eyes - because although humans may not be able to understand our language at least birds can understand each others' very well... LOL! So after doing this for few minutes while also looking down towards him every once in while inside hopes that maybe he would see just how delicious I am before deciding "Hey let's grab some dinner first!" only problem is that thanks to him constantly looking away from me whenever he thinks I'm not looking which will be impossible since I'll always be watching him closely since he might try running away again otherwise - no matter what Leda tries doing whatsoever "Cat! Cat! Cat!" I'm simply staying put right above him until he gives up on running away because no matter what happens I will NEVER give up on trying catching HIM (especially since after having tasted human flesh myself last time I can honestly say that you guys taste absolutely delicious!) too bad though because even though humans are tasty creatures their bodies are SO WEAK! Especially when their legs suddenly start shaking uncontrollably while muttering nonsense or crying hysterically or simply standing there without doing anything whatsoever which is exactly why after waiting near Amyntas for several minutes without seeing any visible signs indicating that he wants to surrender himself peacefully yet despite everything there's really no way for me but push ahead with plan A aka "Wait until screams/crying/muttering/etc stop completely before deciding whether or not wait longer before approaching prey or move forward faster knowing full well there's possibility prey might run away again..." Because trust me being chased by angry cat is NOT FUN! This is exactly why stupid humans need instructions so badly sometimes... Oh wait looks like finally... Yes! Finally those noises stopped! Looks like we can move forward now! Well then let's go shall we? But first let's take one step back just in case... Good! Now then let's go catch ourselves dinner shall we? Ah pardon me please excuse me little boy would you please kindly step aside? Thanks very much indeed! Okay good job everyone keep going don't stop now keep going keep going keep going nooooooowwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeelllllllllllll done! Nice work everyone! Let's eat!
