One morning, everyone in the world woke up to find strange blue spheres scattered all over the place. At first people were excited and curious. After all, who doesn't love free stuff? But as days passed, more and more of these blue spheres appeared. Soon enough, it got frustrating.

What's worse is that no one could actually touch them! Everyone would try to grab them but they'd just slip right through your fingers like they were made of water. It was like they weren't really there at all.

A whole industry sprang up around them. There were toy versions, collectable versions, and even replica ones that you could buy for your car's rear view mirror. But ultimately, they were impossible to keep hold of and eventually fell out of fashion. People started leaving them alone, but a lot of those spheres remained in odd places around the house or buried in the garden.

That was when the rumors started. Nowadays people don't know what's true and what's not about these blue spheres anymore, but there are some pretty popular theories about their origins. One of the most persistent is that aliens left these spheres around to watch us from afar and understand human behavior better. Another says that they're actually alien eggs and if you leave them unsupervised long enough they'll hatch into baby aliens who will then proceed to eat your pets or steal your children so you can feed them with their fresh young blood... The list of crazy theories goes on forever!

Of course, the most sensible answer is that these things are just toys made by some manufacturer trying to make a quick buck on humans' natural tendency to play with anything new and shiny. That's probably right... right?
