Thordis and Kethe: Markers of the Future

Kethe and I had been together for over two years this month, and we were both at the same point in our lives. We each had great jobs, and were just starting to move on to bigger and better things. He was about to get his MBA and start a new job as a management consultant for one of the big three firms in town. I was getting ready to open my own practice and land some investors who would let me work independently with my own clients without having to be tied down to a firm.

He was amazing. We had so much in common, including our faiths. It’s hard enough dating someone without having different backgrounds or upbringings, but with Kethe, it seemed like everything just clicked, you know? And he loved me back just as fiercely as I loved him.

I guess you could say that we were soulmates. We had met through some mutual friends at a party, and the moment we saw each other, we knew that we were meant for each other.

That night, I headed to the airport for our date. I didn’t want to give him any hints about this surprise trip since Kethe is notorious for being terrible at keeping secrets (and besides, what kind of lady lets her man know where she’s going on a date before she leaves?) But when I got there, he grabbed me by the waist and looked deeply into my eyes. “You are so beautiful Angela…I love you so much…”

I smiled at him and pecked him on the cheek. “Thank you darling…you look incredible yourself…”

He grinned mischievously at me. “So where are you taking me? Any hints?”

I laughed softly. “Not a clue darling…but don’t worry too much about it because I packed everything you will need into your bag here…so all you have to do is show up at the airport in your finest suit, okay handsome?”

He chuckled as well before giving me another kiss on the cheek. “Of course baby…you don’t even have to ask!”

We took forever getting through security because of his carry-on bag (he forgot to check it) but eventually made it through okay after Kethe gave me an annoyed look when he saw how long it took us to get through the line which made me laugh hysterically with embarrassment. As soon as we finally got through though, I dragged him into a private room with no cameras or prying eyes and then grabbed his face before kissing him passionately while wrapping my arms around his neck tightly.

Kethe was breathless when we finally broke the kiss before giving me a dark smile that made my heart beat faster than ever before. “Wow Angela…what was that for?” He asked huskily while running his fingers down my upper arm slowly as he stared deeply into my eyes with his own bright blues ones making me shiver from head to toe due to their intensity.

After catching my breath from his passionate kiss, I replied quietly with a soft smile on my lips making him lean forward closer towards me until our noses were barely touching gently. “For being you…for loving me despite everything that has happened between us…and for promising that no matter what happens tonight…no matter what tomorrow brings us….that we will always be together until we die…it is not easy but baby…I am willing to take that leap with you no matter what may happen tomorrow or next week or next year because I have never loved anyone more than I love you baby…and if given the choice between living without you or dying without you…I would choose death every single time because without you in my life...life wouldn't be worth living anymore.”

Kethe replied emotionally, "And trust me Angela, I feel exactly the same way about you too! So let’s not waste any more time worrying about things far beyond our control, shall we? Let's just enjoy our time tonight celebrating our 2nd anniversary because all that matters is that we are together. And regardless of what happens tomorrow, nothing can ever change how much I love you."

With that, we set off hand in hand to continue our romantic journey, knowing that no matter what obstacles life may throw at us, we would face them together with unwavering love and support for one another. For we were two people who could not live without each other, destined only for each other, bound to find happiness simply by being in each other's embrace. So let's live happily ever after like there is no tomorrow, cherishing each moment without wasting a single second on unhappy thoughts. With love always guiding us forward, nothing—not even death itself—can separate us now.
