The day had started like any other. My alarm rang, I got up and went to brush my teeth. Today was the day after the test, so I definitely wanted to be at my best. The test was pretty hard, but I'm sure it will be fine. I skipped breakfast to head straight to school, but as usual I ate a candy bar on my way to school. You know, a little boost of energy for the day.
After getting some strange looks from people in the classroom I sat down and took out my notebook and pencil while waiting for class to start. It didn't take long before some guy came in and the teacher greeted him with a smile. The guy walked up to her and shook her hand, he was wearing a suit with a black tie and his hair was neatly combed back. They both looked really happy to see each other. That's weird, that woman never smiled before when someone came in to greet her during class...
The guy sat down at the desk right next to mine and opened his notebook right away. As soon as he did that I recognized him. He gave me a small nod in greeting while keeping his eyes on his notebook and started scribbling something down. He then closed his notebook again and leaned back in his chair relaxing with his eyes closed for a moment as if he was trying to get rid of all thoughts before starting work again.
"So you're here too?" His sudden question startled me, but I couldn't help but look at him in surprise either "I saw you eating candy this morning."
"Yeah..." I replied hesitantly "Why do you ask?"
"Oh nothing really, it's just that lots of people eat candy around this time of day." He said casually without looking at me "People usually avoid sugar before taking tests though."
"Well... I guess it's because I'm not planning on taking any tests today." I replied while standing up "I actually have something else to do after school today."
He nodded silently while giving me a small smirk that made me feel uneasy "Me too."
The sun had already set by the time we arrived at our destination: A cave high up on a mountain. We were both scared, we could tell that there was something wrong with this place but we decided we would still explore it together and face whatever danger might await us inside this menacing cavern despite having no idea what we were going up against. We walked further into the cave until we reached an intersection where one path continued deeper into the cave while the other led up outside of the mountain.
