"So, what is this drug?"

"It's called the Bloom. It's a hallucinogen, an empathogen," Bo said. "There are a million and one other words for it, but they're all nonsense."

Gru couldn't help but stare at his wife. She was looking out the window of their cabin in the middle of nowhere. He could tell that she had been crying, and he hadn't even noticed until just then. Gru had never really paid attention to her face, especially when she wasn't smiling. She had always been beautiful to him when she smiled, so much so that he had never bothered to look any deeper. Now, though, with her eyes red and glistening, with her nose beginning to drip, Gru felt a pang in his heart like he hadn't felt in years. Before he could stop himself, he found himself at her side, putting his arm around her shoulders and giving her a soft squeeze.

"I'm sorry," he whispered into her ear. "We'll find another way."

Bo looked up at him through teary eyes and smiled softly. "Thank you for trying," she said as she wrapped her arms around him as well and closed her eyes as she pressed her face into his chest. Gru began to rub her back slowly as they held each other tightly and swayed back and forth like two metronomes set on the same beat. After a few minutes passed in silence between them, Stopping just long enough to lean their heads back and look at each other with watery smiles on their faces before returning to their embrace once more; they stayed that way until they heard a knock on the door behind them, causing them to separate reluctantly from one another.

"Hello?" A voice came from outside the door. The voice was female, high pitched yet husky all at once, with a strange accent that Gru couldn't quite place. Bo waited for no further invitation before opening the door wide enough for a short petite woman to walk through before closing it again behind her after she did so. The woman walked over to where they were standing near the window and bowed lightly towards them both before looking up at them with bright brown eyes that seemed full of life under thick eyebrows darker than the black hair piled up on top of her head in a messy bun of sorts. Her skin was dark brown but not quite black; Gru might have even classified it as olive without knowing anything about where she might be from or what part of the world she might be from originally. She wore simple clothing that seemed like something worn by farmers everywhere: loose fitting pants with suspenders hanging down over a plain white shirt with what looked like some sort of animal fur vest thrown over it all. The only thing truly odd about how she dressed was the large hat perched on top of her head which looked like some sort of bird nest made out of dried reed stalks tied together with string; tapering off at both ends and sitting atop her head slightly precariously with string tied around it like a ponytail holder holding it all together under one ear; leaving one long strand falling down along the back of her neck and upper spine almost like a tail feathers would if it were real bird instead of made out of plant matter instead.

Gru smiled warmly at this strange little person who seemed like some sort of forest fairy from some children's fairytale book he might have read as child before holding out his hand for the two women to shake it formally. "Hi! I'm Gru!" He said cheerily as gave the strange little woman a hearty handshake which appeared to startle her just slightly before relaxing once more into another bow while smiling brightly up at him as well; showing off teeth that were shockingly white against lips painted deep red despite looking as though they'd weathered many rough seasons already far beyond their lifetime alone nearly too soon; while also somehow managing not to smear any lipstick onto the corners of those wide eyes either despite shaking hands with him vigorously enough that even he could feel his own hand begin tingle slightly afterward after such an enthusiastic greeting followed by this woman laughing out loud which sounded vaguely like something between a bird call mixed with chirping sound.

"Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry! I don't know what came over me!" The woman said quickly, realizing her behavior had been a little over the top. "My name is Mira," she continued, extending her hand for a more civilized greeting. Bo and Gru shook her hand in turn, feeling as though they had invited a wild, yet endearing presence into their home.

Mira expressed her excitement about meeting them, despite her previous display of enthusiasm. She couldn't conceal her emotions, and it had taken her by surprise as well. Yet it seemed this strange encounter was a welcome deviation from the ordinary, as the cabin's occupants were drawn into a new sense of curiosity and uncertainty. For a moment, their challenges seemed to fade
