The man in the clean, black suit stood and glared at me. "I don't care what you do," he said, his voice like a grating whisper. "But if you know what's good for you, you'll find out what she has there."

I blinked, stepped back and looked up at him. He was tall but not too tall. I could see over his shoulder to the window behind him, where I knew the warmth of Sol would be pouring through.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, my voice soft and trembling.

He grinned with his perfect teeth. "That thing she has there," he said. "The little box. What is it? Does it have something to do with that other thing she stole from the ship?" His eyes were hard as he waved his hand back toward the table in the middle of the room, where Idris' body lay on a metal slab. The young man had died quickly after being shot by one of Suyung's men, who had been following us close behind. Suyung was taking no chances with his precious cargo this time around.

I swallowed hard and shook my head blankly. "I don't know what you're talking about." I don't know anything about that stupid box that Idris brought with him on board! I thought angrily inside my head. Why won't these people leave me alone?

The man frowned and rubbed his nose with a finger and thumb, scratching the bridge of his sharp nose with the nail. "Look at her again," he said suddenly, turning his head back to look at Idris' body on the slab behind us. "You can see it in her face." He turned back to me and smiled coldly again. "She doesn't want to give it up." He shook his head slowly as he stared down into my eyes with a gaze that burned into me like heat-seeking fire missiles. "She doesn't want to let go of it."

"What are you talking about?" I demanded shrilly now, looking away from him and down at Idris' face instead. It was peaceful enough - almost happy - except for the bullet hole in her temple, which was disturbingly small compared with how much blood had spilled out of her onto the table below her head when Suyung's man had shot her down next to me on our way off the ship here in this bright white room in Suyung's shipyard far out in space somewhere near Sol - further than anyone should be able to go without burning up from proximity to its brightness, according to all known physics - before we'd even gotten far enough away from Earth to make a jump out of its orbit into interstellar space and then another jump past Neptune's orbit around Sol before Suyung could jump away from Earth altogether with Idris' body still alive but not conscious on board so he could figure out what she knew about some missing piece of equipment that everyone seemed so concerned about that they were willing to kill an innocent girl over just to find out what it was!

I looked back up at the man in front of me again but couldn't meet his gaze this time - instead looking down at my hands which were clenched into tight fists in front of me as if trying to hold onto something I couldn't quite see anymore in my mind's eye or maybe more like trying not to let anyone else have whatever imaginary thing it was that I couldn't quite let myself even imagine any more either! But why can't they just leave me alone?! Why can't they just stop killing everyone? Why can't they just leave us alone!?! I screamed inside my head while staring down at my own clenched hands while tears began stinging my eyes like tiny hot needles piercing into my skin!

But then suddenly I felt a cool hand touch one of my fists gently; fingers spread wide covering my entire fist as they pressed lightly against my palm and carefully pried open first one hand then the other until both were free again though still shaking badly whether from fear or anger or sadness or something else entirely - probably all four feelings fighting desperately inside each other for dominance over every corner of my soul right now! But it didn't matter anymore because now strong arms wrapped themselves around me gently and held me close as if trying to squeeze everything bad out of me so only pure goodness could remain despite how painful such squeezing might be for both parties involved!

My breathing began slowing down as those strong arms held me close - somehow holding back everything bad for now by their strength alone even if nothing else could do such a thing! And so silence took over once more in that painfully bright white room surrounded by white walls covered in thick lines of black writing everywhere while yet another person nearby was dead now forever because someone wanted something they couldn't have but felt entitled to nonetheless! And despite everything bad happening all around us right now inside this place here right now right here right here right now right now right here right here right now right here right now right now right here...

I closed my eyes, allowing myself to find refuge in the warmth and comfort of those strong arms. In that moment, it felt like the entire world had faded away, leaving only the two of us standing amidst the chaos and destruction. The cries of desperation and the lingering scent of death drifted into the background, replaced by a serene stillness that only his embrace could bring.

As the tears continued to flow, I started to feel a sense of release, as if all the pain and fear that had been pent up inside of me was slowly seeping out with each drop that fell. His presence was a balm to my wounded soul, offering solace and understanding without the need for words.

After what felt like an eternity, I finally found the strength to open my eyes and look up at the man who had come to my rescue. His deep blue eyes, filled with a mixture of determination and compassion, met mine with an intensity that sent shivers down my spine. There was something about him that felt familiar, as if he held the key to all the secrets that had plagued my existence.

"Who are you?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper.

He smiled softly, his grip on me loosening slightly but never fully letting go. "My name is Gabriel," he said, his voice gentle yet filled with an underlying strength. "And I'm here to help you."

Help me? The words echoed in my mind, and for a moment, I couldn't believe that anyone could offer salvation in a world so consumed by darkness. But as Gabriel's fingers brushed away a stray tear from my cheek, I couldn't help but lean into his touch, craving the comfort that only he could provide.

"What do you want from me?" I asked, my voice tinged with a mixture of hope and apprehension.

Gabriel's expression turned solemn, a flicker of sadness passing through his eyes. "I want to help you find the truth," he said, his voice laced with determination. "There are forces at play here that are far beyond your understanding. But together, we can uncover the secrets that killed Idris and put an end to the violence that threatens to consume us all."

His words resonated within me, awakening a sense of purpose that I had long buried deep inside. Suddenly, the weight of the world didn't seem as daunting, for I had found an ally in this dark and treacherous labyrinth of deceit.

I nodded, my hands finding their way to Gabriel's, intertwining with his fingers as if seeking the strength that flowed through him. "I accept your help," I said, my voice filled with newfound determination. "Let's find out what they're hiding and put an end to this madness once and for all."

Gabriel's smile widened, and together, we stepped away from the lifeless body of Idris, leaving behind the room of horrors and stepping into the unknown. Little did I know that this decision would lead us down a path fraught with danger and betrayal, where every step would bring us closer to the truth, no matter the cost.

As we ventured into the shadows, I couldn't help but wonder what awaited us in the depths of this treacherous journey. But with Gabriel by my side, I was ready to face whatever lay ahead, for even in the darkest of times, a glimmer of hope can ignite a fire that burns brighter than the stars.
