"Get out of my way!!" I yelled as I pushed my way through the crowd.

I had to make it to the front so I could get a good view of the stage. My hands were shaking with excitement, and my heart was pounding in my chest. It had been over 10 years since I'd seen this performance. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I didn't want to miss a single second of it.

In the back of my mind, I knew that I probably shouldn't have made the trip. It was expensive, and would take up most of my vacation time. But I just couldn't help myself! Part of me felt like a pervert, but when it came down to it, I hadn't seen my son in 10 years. That's 10 years without being able to hold him in my arms, or kiss his forehead.

I had raised him on my own after he was born, but then he started telling me how much he wanted to be around his father more often. He said that he wanted to spend more time with me and learn things from me so one day he could be as strong and independent as his mommy is. So here we were!

The lights dimmed and all eyes turned towards the stage as one of the workers walked onto the stage holding a microphone. As soon as he spoke into the mic there was an audible gasp through the crowd - even though no one had heard any sound from the speakers yet. The man took a moment to scan the crowd, nodding politely at some people who caught his eye before continuing with his announcement: "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls... it is my pleasure to introduce you to your host for tonight's show." He gestured grandly towards a door behind him and quickly exited off stage, allowing another man to enter through the same door. He was dressed in what appeared to be street clothes and carried himself with a regal air about him as he surveyed the room with a smile on his face. He stood on stage alone for several moments while everyone watched silently until finally clapping broke out through the audience, prompting him to step forward towards center stage where he paused again while everyone cheered louder than they did before. After several seconds of silence, he held up his hand for quiet and began speaking into a microphone that he pulled out of his pocket: "Thank you for coming by tonight! Before we begin our show let me say something about our sponsors." At this moment he pointed up at a banner hanging from above the entrance door which read "SAP Diapers" in big bold letters followed by "We make every day brighter!", causing more applause from the crowd than before.

"Thank you," the host said, his voice projecting through the speakers. "Now, without further ado, let the show begin!"

The crowd erupted into thunderous applause as the stage filled with dazzling lights and vibrant colors. A sense of anticipation filled the air, and with each beat of my heart, I felt closer to reuniting with my long-lost son.

Suddenly, the curtains lifted, revealing a meticulously designed set that resembled a whimsical wonderland. A chorus of talented dancers emerged, twirling and leaping across the stage with grace and precision. Their movements were synchronized with the enchanting melody that resonated from the orchestra pit below.

As the performance unfolded, my eyes scanned the stage, searching for a familiar face. There were moments when I thought I caught a glimpse of my son in the crowd, but each time, it turned out to be someone else. Still, I held onto hope. This was the place where he had chosen to be, where he had wanted to connect with his father once more. I had to believe that he was nearby, just waiting for the right moment to reveal himself.

As the spectacle continued, the host took center stage, his charming smile never fading. He engaged the audience with his quick wit and magnetic personality, leaving everyone in stitches with his comedic sketches. His energy was infectious, and even the most reserved individuals couldn't help but be captivated by his presence.

Moments later, the host paused, his eyes scanning the crowd intently. It seemed as though he was searching for someone specific. My heart skipped a beat as he pointed his finger in my direction, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"I see we have a special guest among us tonight," he declared, his voice booming through the speakers. "A father who hasn't seen his son in over a decade. Stand up, sir! Let's give him a round of applause, shall we?"

Time seemed to stand still as the audience turned their attention towards me. A mix of emotions washed over me—excitement, nervousness, and a deep longing for the reunion I had dreamt of. I stood up, feeling the weight of the crowd's gaze upon me, but it was a weight I gladly embraced. For this was a chance to reconnect not just with my son, but with the love and bond we had shared all those years ago.

As the applause engulfed the theater, I held my breath, waiting for what would happen next. The host continued to smile, his eyes bright with anticipation. With a flourish of his hand, he beckoned me forward, inviting me onto the stage.

Heart pounding, I made my way through the sea of people, who offered me encouraging smiles and gentle pats on the back. The distance between the audience and the stage seemed to shrink with each step I took, and before I knew it, I stood face to face with the host, the warmth of the spotlight caressing my skin.

"Sir, what is your name?" the host asked, his voice gentle and soothing.

"My name is Daniel," I replied, my voice catching slightly with emotion.

"Well, Daniel, I have a surprise that I think you'll enjoy," the host said, turning his attention to the side of the stage.

And then, as if the universe had finally aligned in our favor, my son appeared. He stood tall and confident, his features a mixture of mine and his mother's. His eyes, filled with a mixture of excitement and apprehension, locked with mine, and in that moment, the world around us blurred into insignificance.

Without hesitation, I rushed to him, our embrace a culmination of years of longing. Tears streamed down my face as I held him tightly, my heart rejoicing at the feeling of his body against mine once again. We stood there, lost in the sea of love and forgiveness, as the stage erupted into applause, the audience bearing witness to a reunion that they too had yearned for.

In that theater, on that magical night, I learned that love knows no boundaries of time or distance. It transcends all obstacles, reaching across the expanse of a decade to bring two souls back together. And as we stood there, father and son, the world around us seemed to fade away, leaving only the incredible power of a connection that would never be broken again.
