Lucy's Evolution.

The sound of a ringing phone echoed through the small apartment. Lucy, a young American woman studying in Taiwan, looked up from her textbooks and sighed. She reached over to answer it, hoping it wasn't another call from her overbearing mother.

"Hello?" she said tentatively.

"Lucy, my love," a familiar voice purred on the other end. It was Richard, her boyfriend of six months. "I have a favor to ask you."

Lucy's brow furrowed in confusion. Richard rarely called during the day, and he was never one to ask for favors. "Sure, what is it?" she asked cautiously.

"I need you to do something for me," Richard said with an undertone of urgency. "I need you to deliver a briefcase to someone."

Lucy's confusion turned into concern. Delivering a briefcase? This didn't sound like something Richard would get involved in. "Who am I delivering it to?"

"His name is Mr. Jang," Richard replied. "He's a businessman I've been working with recently."

Alarm bells started ringing in Lucy's head. She had heard rumors about Mr. Jang - that he was involved in some shady dealings, that he had killed people who crossed him - but she never thought Richard would be caught up in anything like that.

"Richard, I don't think this is a good idea," Lucy said nervously.

"I promise you, there's nothing to worry about," Richard assured her quickly. "Just drop off the briefcase and come straight back here. It'll be fine."

Reluctantly, Lucy agreed, not wanting to upset Richard but still feeling uneasy about the whole situation.

The address that Richard gave her led Lucy to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. As she approached the door cautiously, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong.

Before she could turn back, the door swung open, and a man with a scarred face and cold eyes stood before her. "You must be Lucy," he said in a deep, menacing voice.

Lucy swallowed hard and held out the briefcase. "I'm here to see Mr. Jang," she stammered.

The man took the briefcase from her and looked inside, his expression unreadable. "Follow me," he commanded, gesturing for Lucy to enter the warehouse.

As she stepped inside, several more men appeared from the shadows, surrounding her and cutting off any chance of escape. Panic rose within her as she realized that she had been tricked by Richard - there was no business deal, no innocent delivery. She was caught in the clutches of Mr. Jang's criminal enterprise.

Footsteps echoed through the warehouse as Mr. Jang himself made his grand entrance. He was a tall man with slicked-back hair and an air of authority that sent shivers down Lucy's spine.

"Ah, Lucy," he said with a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "So nice of you to join us."

"What do you want from me?" Lucy demanded, trying to sound brave despite the fear coursing through her veins.

Mr. Jang's smile widened as he circled around her like a predator stalking its prey. "I believe you have something that belongs to me," he said ominously.

Before Lucy could respond, one of Mr. Jang's henchmen grabbed hold of her and injected something into her arm. A wave of dizziness washed over her as everything went dark.

When Lucy regained consciousness, she found herself strapped to a cold metal table in a brightly lit room filled with scientific equipment. Panic set in as she struggled against her restraints.

"Just relax, my dear," a calm voice said from across the room. An older man with glasses approached her, his demeanor gentle yet distant. "I'm Professor Norman. I assure you, no harm will come to you."

Lucy's brow furrowed in confusion. "Where am I? What's happening to me?"

Professor Norman sighed and adjusted his glasses. "You've been injected with a new synthetic drug called CPH4," he explained. "It has the potential to unlock the full capacity of the human brain, granting extraordinary abilities. We are studying its effects on a...voluntary test subject such as yourself."

Lucy's eyes widened in horror as she realized what that meant. She was being used as a lab rat, forced to undergo dangerous experiments for Mr. Jang's twisted agenda.

"We need to get out of here," Lucy said urgently, her mind racing with thoughts of escape.

Professor Norman nodded sympathetically. "I can help you," he offered. "But we'll need to find someone in law enforcement who can protect us from Mr. Jang and his men."

As if on cue, the door burst open, and a French police captain stormed into the room, gun drawn.

"Captain Pierre Del Rio at your service," he said with a charming smile that belied his no-nonsense attitude.

Lucy couldn't believe her luck - it seemed like things were finally starting to go her way.

With Professor Norman's guidance and Captain Pierre Del Rio's protection, Lucy managed to escape from the clutches of Mr. Jang and his criminal organization.
