·
Published 6/30/2023In a future Europe ravaged by disasters, a charismatic former soccer player with histrionic disorder and a determined ex-genetic pharmacist with bipolar disorder team up to survive, but must confront their own emotional demons as they search for a miraculous prosthetic and a cure for a flesh-eating bacteria, raising the question: will their personal struggles be overcome, or will they succumb to their own desires?

Joshua was just a kid when he joined the Virexen soccer team.
He had always dreamed of being a footballer since he was a kid and now his dream had finally come true. He used to play on the streets with his friends, but he knew that his dreams wouldn't come true if he kept playing there. So, one day, he decided to enter the academy and worked hard to get in. His hard work paid off and he joined the team as left winger. He was only 18 years old back then, but his skills were quite outstanding. He always thought that it was because of the prosthetic leg that made him better than the others, but then he realized that it was because of his own talent.
He scored a goal for his team during their first game against Excelsior City and everyone said that it was because of the prosthetic leg, but Joshua knew that it wasn't all about his prosthetic leg. It was because of his dedication, his passion, and most importantly... it's because of her. She was so beautiful and she gave him the strength to fight for what he wanted. They fell in love after they met on that day and never left each other since then, until she got sick one day and died a few months later.
Everyone said that she just passed away peacefully while sleeping in her bed, but Joshua knew that she didn't die peacefully. That night she had difficulty breathing and screamed in pain when she coughed out blood from her mouth while lying down in bed next to him. They quickly called an ambulance, but it took them almost an hour before they arrived since they were too busy dealing with some horrible accident happening at another city nearby. The ambulance arrived just in time before she could bleed out completely, but she still died two days later due to infection caused by the open wound on her chest caused by the broken rib during coughing cough out blood from the mouth during breathing difficulties breathing difficulty breathing difficulty breathing difficulty breathing difficulty breathing difficulty....
Joshua blamed himself for her death because he couldn't do anything except holding her hands while crying next to her bed while doctors tried their best to save her life. She asked him not to cry nor blame himself when she realized what has happened to her body when doctors told Joshua about her condition after taking X-ray image using X-ray machine at hospital using X-ray machine using X-ray machine using X-ray machine using X-ray machine...
Her heart broke into two pieces and no medicines or surgeries can help fix it anymore...
After weeks grieving over her death, Joshua decided to leave everything behind and fled from Virexen City hoping to find a place where no innocent people would be involved in their war with Excelsior City...
Uyara watched Joshua sprinting towards the fence from a safe distance inside the tunnel leading towards Exit 231 like a crazy man screaming "I am Joshua!!" over and over again with tears falling down from his face as gunshots echoed throughout the tunnel located beneath Virexen City Hall - Headquarters of Virexen Department of Security - located deep underground in order to minimize damages sustained by nearby buildings whenever they fire their artillery cannons against Excelsior City - Headquarters of Excelsior Department of Security - located also deep underground in order to minimize damages sustained by nearby buildings whenever they fire their artillery cannons against Virexen City
Uyara clenched her fists, biting her lip as she grappled with the decision before her. She had been tasked with bringing Joshua back to the team, to convince him that running away wasn't the solution. But seeing him like this, completely shattered and consumed by grief, she couldn't help but doubt the righteousness of her mission. The weight of her responsibilities pressed down on her, threatening to crush her under their burden.
But Uyara had always been a fighter—a woman who never backed down from a challenge. She had joined the Virexen soccer team herself at a young age, driven by the desire to prove herself in a world dominated by men. With unyielding determination, she had fought her way into a starting position on the team, earning the respect and admiration of her teammates. She had overcome countless obstacles and setbacks, always rising above with unwavering resilience. And she knew that she couldn't allow Joshua to succumb to his pain and abandon his dreams.
Taking a deep breath, Uyara dashed after Joshua, her footsteps echoing through the tunnel. She caught up with him just before he reached the fence, grabbing his arm and pulling him to a stop. "Joshua, wait!" she pleaded, her voice desperate and filled with compassion. "I know you're hurting, but running away won't solve anything. You have a gift, a talent that is meant to be shared with the world. You can't let this tragedy define you."
Joshua turned to her, his eyes bloodshot and filled with a mix of sorrow and anger. "What do you know about it?" he spat, his voice choked with emotion. "You can't possibly understand the pain I'm feeling."
Uyara met his gaze, her own eyes flickering with a fire that refused to be extinguished. "Maybe I don't understand your pain exactly, Joshua, but I know what it feels like to lose someone you love. I lost my father to the war between Virexen and Excelsior. But I refuse to let that loss consume me. Instead, I channel my pain and use it to fuel my determination to make a difference. And you can too."
Joshua's gaze wavered, the dam of his emotions threatening to break. "But how, Uyara? How can I go on when she's gone?"
Uyara took a step closer, her voice gentle yet unwavering. "By honoring her memory, Joshua. By living the life she believed in, the life she helped you build. Your dreams were hers too, and you owe it to her to keep chasing them. Don't let her death be in vain."
Tears streamed down Joshua's face as he looked at Uyara, a mix of gratitude and agony etched upon his features. Slowly, he nodded, the weight of his grief shifting just enough for a glimmer of hope to seep in.
Taking his hand, Uyara led Joshua back towards the tunnel's entrance. Together, they would face the war, the pain, and the haunting memories that threatened to consume them. Together, they would forge a path towards healing and redemption.
As they emerged from the underground into the chaos of Virexen City, Uyara felt a renewed sense of purpose well up within her. It was time to rally the team, to unite the fragmented pieces of their shattered city and come together in a last-ditch effort for peace.
For Joshua, for his lost love, and for all the innocent lives caught in the crossfire of a senseless war, she vowed to fight. And with every breath, every touch, and every match played on the field, she would carry their spirits forward, a beacon of hope in the darkness.
