"Are you sure it's here?" asked Tu-Li, peering under the wide leaves of a strange tree.
"It's right here." replied Yu-Tai, his voice echoing through the forest. "I'm sure of it."
Yu-Tai and Tu-Li had been traveling for days. They had left their home with only the clothes on their back and little food in their satchel. They had not told anyone where they were going, and Yu-Tai was beginning to regret that decision. He did not want to leave, but his mother had an idea as to where he could find answers. It was an idea that she had had for many years, but one that she never acted upon for reasons unknown. Now it was up to Yu-Tai to find out what those reasons were.
"What if we are lost forever? What if we die in this forest?" asked Tu-Li, her voice shaking with fear. "We don't even know what's out there."
Tu-Li was always afraid of things unseen. She would shiver when she heard wind blow or a dog howl. She would faint at the sight of blood or a snake or even a spider crawling across the floor. But Yu-Tai knew that she was braver than she looked. She would always be the first one to jump into new places, never letting her fear stop her from exploring something new; so long as that thing wasn't scary.
"We won't die," said Yu-Tai smiling at his friend, "We've made it this far."
Yu-Tai walked away from the tree and over to another one in the distance. It was very tall with many twisting branches reaching high into the sky above them. The trunk was wide and round like a giant mushroom with thick green leaves covering every inch of its skin. Tu-Li followed close behind him as he walked towards it and began searching around for something that he could not see with his own eyes.
